Yes, the presentation of a three dimensional ‘mock-up’ may well help to raise my profile a bit and can give sales assistance in that, but I think that the greatest benefit of the 3D presentation is when it shows what I’m talking about.
Time and again I’ve spoken with a client and described and explained what I think is a good solution and why, only to discover at some later date that the client has been expecting something completely different to that which I have put forward. By the way, I am a qualified teacher, so even if I don’t wish to brag about my communication skills, they should be about up to scratch. I’m sure I can be just as guilty as my clients for some of these glitches in communication, but with the 3D presentation the risk of talking right by each other is very much reduced. Added to that is the opportunity for the client to ask for modifications on the basis of the 3D drawing and it can all be done without cutting a single board.
